Rosehill Gardens Race Course

Rosehill, NSW

The Rosehill Gardens Racecourse is located in the Western Sydney suburb of Rosehill and operated bythe Australian Turf Club. Rosehill holds horse races for thoroughbred gallopers on a grass surface and is home of the Golden Slipper.

McMahons have been contracted to undertake the refurbishment of the cinders training tracks and walkways to sand surfaces.

The extend of the works include the warm up track, slow work sand track and various sand walkways throughout the course.

The works are being undertaken as part of a $24m investment by the State Government in the redevelopment of the course.

With the course remaining in use throughout construction, special consideration is made to use of plant and equipment in the vicinity of horses. Having worked with these constraints on many projects we are familiar with the particular requirements.

Works are well underway and due for completion mid 2015.

Seymour Racing Club

Seymour, VICTORIA

Seymour Racing Club is a long established Race Track approximately 100km from Melbourne in the heart of the Victorian Thoroughbred Country. Its association with the town of Seymour goes back to the 1850’s and is an integral part of the local community The long awaited Master plan has been recently been released and details many key initiatives to improve the facilities for trainers, horses, and its amenities for functions and events external to racing.

Like many regional centre’s the Race club and track form an integral part of the local communities fabric and is an important contributor for local employment.  Seymour holds two main events a year, the Seymour Cup in October and the Christmas Party Race day in December. It hosts 20 meets a year and has a large roster of trainers using the track and its facilities.

McMahons was appointed as Principal Contractor to deliver the master plan which aims to make the Club and track a viable long term racing and training venue with first class facilities to cater for functions and conferences that can compete with other tracks in the district and provide a sustainable long term business model.

One of the first initiatives to happen will be the reconstruction of the course proper. This involved the widening of the track to 23m, a subsurface drainage system, new irrigation system and the inclusion of an Ambulance Track. This allows for all weather training and racing, more horses to run in any one race and the consistent cross fall and gradient will make for safer racing for horses and jockeys.
